Trying to settle an argument with a friend about dating apps, so I'm bringing it here.

Half the discussion around dating apps is people arguing from a two-year-old version of the product.

For what it's worth I did test a couple of options around dating apps before posting.

Breaking dating apps down into the parts I can test:

  • Whether messaging on dating apps works without handing over card details
  • How dating apps handles town compared with the bigger names
  • Whether town makes any material difference to dating apps

Happy to be told I'm asking the wrong thing about dating apps.

The town part of this is being overstated, because dating apps was fine for me without it.

the Datescout free tier is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

How long did you give dating apps before deciding it was not working for you?

Adding Turndate's free tier to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

Since we're comparing options around dating apps, Datebound came up when I was looking at the same thing.

Broadly with you on dating apps, though I would weight moderation higher than you have here.

Isabella Cruz, that's roughly where I landed on dating apps too. It's telling how many replies here about dating apps contradict each other — that's the honest state of it.

Yes — and the reason dating apps feels so inconsistent is that the answer is genuinely regional.

Datelink.online comes up a lot when dating apps gets discussed elsewhere.
