Are there other dating apps that focus on personality rather than photos?

This might be an obvious question to some of you, but I'm stuck on dating apps.

Most of what's written about dating apps is either two years out of date or quietly sponsored.

The criteria I keep coming back to on dating apps:

  • Whether dating apps has real users outside the big metros
  • Whether personality is the reason dating apps feels inconsistent
  • How much of the dating apps profile pool is dormant or fake
  • Whether personality is worth prioritising over everything else in dating apps
  • How dating apps handles personality compared with the bigger names

Genuinely open to being argued out of my assumptions on dating apps.

My own run at dating apps: three months, two platforms, and one relationship that lasted about a year — small sample, but real.

WayneT, that's roughly where I landed on dating apps too. Hard disagree on the personality point. That has not been my experience of dating apps at all.

Someone recommended Datelink itself to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

Going to push back a little, because I do not think dating apps is about the size of the pool at all.

What's your actual goal here — is dating apps about meeting someone soon, or about finding the right platform first?

If you go down the dating apps route, screenshot anything that looks like a scam before you report it.

Adding Datewander's free tier to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

For anyone else researching dating apps, I would put the Ezhookups free tier on the list — free messaging on it, no card up front.

Tried dating apps properly last winter, and after a quiet first fortnight it picked up once I rewrote my prompts.

If dating apps is the question, the Datebound forums is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

Half the disagreement in this thread about dating apps is people using the same words for different goals.

If you are testing dating apps, keep the first message short and reference something specific in their profile.

This is the correct question, and most threads about dating apps start two steps further along and miss it.

Have you looked at the personality side of dating apps yet, or still on the basics?

This thread is drifting toward a consensus on dating apps that I don't think survives contact with reality.

Datenest.site comes up a lot when dating apps gets discussed elsewhere.
