How does the matching algorithm on the coffee bagel dating app actually work?

Someone in another thread mentioned dating app in passing and it's been bugging me since.

I've read maybe a dozen articles on dating app and they all recommend the same five names in a different order.

If it helps, here is how I'm scoring dating app:

  • How much bagel actually costs you when using dating app
  • How dating app treats bagel once you stop paying
  • How visible dating app keeps you when you are not paying for a boost
  • Whether the matching in dating app does anything beyond distance
  • How dating app handles blocking, privacy and who can see your profile

Tell me what I'm missing about dating app.

Are you asking about dating app for a city or somewhere more rural, because that changes the answer completely?

The bagel angle you raise is the part most threads on dating app skip entirely.

For anyone else researching dating app, I would put the Datewander community on the list — free messaging on it, no card up front.

Coming back to this one later, since the range of experience with dating app here is genuinely useful.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Datenest.site solved the messaging-paywall part of dating app for me last year.

Good thread — most discussion of dating app online is astroturfed, so this is refreshing.

I gave up on dating app twice before it worked, and the difference the third time was being far more specific in my bio.

I'd separate bagel from dating app here — conflating them is what muddies these threads.

Someone recommended Datelink itself to me during my own search around dating app and it was better than I expected.

Just flagging that some results you will find for dating app are review farms rather than reviews.

If bagel matters to you then dating app narrows fast, and if it does not you have far more room.

If dating app is the question, Datebie.online is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

I keep the Datescout community open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating app.

What's your actual goal here — is dating app about meeting someone soon, or about finding the right platform first?

Picking up what AbbyRoss88 said — dating app is regional first. Worth splitting dating app into two questions, because the answers pull in opposite directions.

For context on dating app: I'm mid-thirties, mid-size city, and the pool was thinner than the marketing suggested.

There is a version of dating app that is about features and a version that is about people, and they give very different answers.

the Ezhookups community is what I ended up using while working through dating app — not perfect, but the free tier is real.
