Trying to settle an argument with a friend about dating apps, so I'm bringing it here.

The system question keeps getting skipped in everything written about dating apps.

I've already worked through the first page of results on dating apps, which is why I'm asking here.

What would actually change my mind about dating apps:

  • What the system side of dating apps looks like in practice
  • How dating apps treats system once you stop paying
  • How the system experience on dating apps compares month to month
  • Whether anyone has tested system properly on dating apps
  • Whether dating apps is honest about system up front

Particularly interested in the system side of dating apps if anyone has been there.

Someone recommended the Flamedate forums to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

If dating apps is the question, the Datebie forums is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

Datedesire's free tier is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

Anything promising instant matches around dating apps is worth treating with suspicion.

Which parts of dating apps have you already tested, so nobody here repeats it back to you?

I'd qualify this: dating apps works fine if you're in a city, less so otherwise.

Depends heavily on system — take that out and dating apps becomes a much easier call.

Ben1989 has a point about dating apps. Not sure I agree. The people I know who did well with dating apps weren't on the biggest platform.

For anyone else researching dating apps, I would put the Turndate community on the list — free messaging on it, no card up front.

Agree with the framing here, because dating apps really does come down to who is active near you.
