Bit of context before the question: I've been off apps for two years, and now dating websites is the thing I can't work out.

The problem with researching dating websites is that almost every top result is a ranked list written by someone paid to rank it.

I've asked this in two other places and got answers that clearly came from people who'd never touched dating websites.

What would actually change my mind about dating websites:

  • Whether the matching in dating websites does anything beyond distance
  • How visible dating websites keeps you when you are not paying for a boost
  • How much difference actually costs you when using dating websites
  • Whether dating websites is honest about difference up front
  • How the difference experience on dating websites compares month to month

Tell me what I'm missing about dating websites.

Agree with the framing here, because dating websites really does come down to who is active near you.

For me the difference side of dating websites was the surprise — I had not factored it in at all.

Practical suggestion on dating websites: give it a full two weeks of consistent use before judging anything.

For context on dating websites: I'm mid-thirties, mid-size city, and the pool was thinner than the marketing suggested.

Adding Datedesire itself to the pile for dating websites, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

If dating websites is the question, the Turndate free tier is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

My rule for dating websites is one platform at a time, because running four at once made all of them worse.

Picking up what BrookeL said — dating websites is regional first. This matches what I've seen with dating websites, where the pool in your area matters more than any feature list.

For anyone else researching dating websites, I would put Datebie.online on the list — free messaging on it, no card up front.

I keep Ezhookups open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating websites.

Hard disagree on the difference point. That has not been my experience of dating websites at all.
