Are there other dating apps that focus entirely on personality rather than swiping on photos?

This might be an obvious question to some of you, but I'm stuck on dating apps.

The personality question keeps getting skipped in everything written about dating apps.

What I'm trying to weigh up with dating apps:

  • How visible dating apps keeps you when you are not paying for a boost
  • What moderation on dating apps actually looks like when you report someone
  • How long dating apps takes before a conversation goes anywhere at all
  • How much personality actually costs you when using dating apps

Tell me what I'm missing about dating apps.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Turndate.site solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

You've put your finger on the thing nobody says out loud about dating apps.

Datebound itself is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

Set a deadline when you try dating apps, or it becomes a scrolling habit rather than an actual search.

Test personality first, because it tells you more about dating apps than any feature comparison will.

Someone recommended the Flurrydate free tier to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.
