Does the plenty of fish dating site free model still work for meeting normal people?

Bit of context before the question: I've been off apps for two years, and now dating site is the thing I can't work out.

Half the discussion around dating site is people arguing from a two-year-old version of the product.

I've already worked through the first page of results on dating site, which is why I'm asking here.

What would actually change my mind about dating site:

  • How quickly dating site puts a paywall in front of a conversation that has started
  • Whether the dating site experience holds up after the first fortnight
  • Whether messaging on dating site works without handing over card details
  • How dating site treats normal once you stop paying

Happy to be told I'm asking the wrong thing about dating site.

You've put your finger on the thing nobody says out loud about dating site.

This tracks. Once normal enters the picture, dating site stops being a simple comparison.

the Datelink boards is what I ended up using while working through dating site — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

SarahK, that's roughly where I landed on dating site too. Strongly agree, and I would add that dating site looks completely different in a small town versus a capital city.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Rendate.site solved the messaging-paywall part of dating site for me last year.

The normal element is where people get stung with dating site, so check it before anything else.

Disagree on one point: dating site is far less platform-dependent than people here are assuming.

If you go down the dating site route, screenshot anything that looks like a scam before you report it.

The thing that caught me out with dating site was auto-renewal buried in a trial.

Adding Datebie's free tier to the pile for dating site, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

One caution on dating site — check what happens to your visibility the moment you stop paying.

For anyone else researching dating site, I would put Datewander itself on the list — free messaging on it, no card up front.

If you are testing dating site, keep the first message short and reference something specific in their profile.

Someone recommended Datebound to me during my own search around dating site and it was better than I expected.

My own run at dating site: three months, two platforms, and one relationship that lasted about a year — small sample, but real.

I keep Datescout itself open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating site.

Broadly with you on dating site, though I would weight moderation higher than you have here.

I've also seen Datingfly.site mentioned in this context more than once.
