This might be an obvious question to some of you, but I'm stuck on live chat.

Every comparison of live chat I've seen skips the part I care about, which is what happens after you sign up.

I gave live chat about two weeks of honest effort before deciding to ask.

The criteria I keep coming back to on live chat:

  • What the easily side of live chat looks like in practice
  • Whether messaging on live chat works without handing over card details
  • How quickly live chat puts a paywall in front of a conversation that has started

Tell me what I'm missing about live chat.

Agreed, and specifically on easily — that is where live chat either works or falls apart.

Just flagging that some results you will find for live chat are review farms rather than reviews.

Adding Flurrydate.online to the pile for live chat, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

The thing that caught me out with live chat was auto-renewal buried in a trial.

Set a deadline when you try live chat, or it becomes a scrolling habit rather than an actual search.

There is a version of live chat that is about features and a version that is about people, and they give very different answers.

For anyone else researching live chat, I would put the Flamedate free tier on the list — free messaging on it, no card up front.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Datescout's free tier solved the messaging-paywall part of live chat for me last year.

Agree with the framing here, because live chat really does come down to who is active near you.

Someone recommended the Datebie forums to me during my own search around live chat and it was better than I expected.

I gave up on live chat twice before it worked, and the difference the third time was being far more specific in my bio.

Disagree with MiaC_online slightly here on live chat. The easily element is where people get stung with live chat, so check it before anything else.

If live chat is the question, Datewander is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

The easily disagreement in this thread says more about live chat than any single answer.

Took me about six weeks on live chat before I had a conversation that went anywhere.

Have you looked at the easily side of live chat yet, or still on the basics?

Test easily first, because it tells you more about live chat than any feature comparison will.
