How does a location dating app track you without draining your battery?

Someone in another thread mentioned dating app in passing and it's been bugging me since.

Every comparison of dating app I've seen skips the part I care about, which is what happens after you sign up.

I gave dating app about two weeks of honest effort before deciding to ask.

Where track is concerned, these are the dating app questions I have:

  • Whether messaging on dating app works without handing over card details
  • Whether the free tier on dating app is genuinely usable or just a demo
  • Whether dating app is honest about track up front
  • Whether track is the reason dating app feels inconsistent
  • Whether track makes any material difference to dating app

Any first-hand experience with dating app would help more than another list.

Hard disagree on the track point. That has not been my experience of dating app at all.

Not affiliated with anyone, but the Turndate threads solved the messaging-paywall part of dating app for me last year.

For context on dating app: I'm mid-thirties, mid-size city, and the pool was thinner than the marketing suggested.

Disagree with DavidN slightly here on dating app. Can I ask what you have already ruled out on dating app, so nobody repeats what you know?

Have you looked at the track side of dating app yet, or still on the basics?

To build on RyanO's answer about dating app: Practical suggestion on dating app: give it a full two weeks of consistent use before judging anything.

I'd separate track from dating app here — conflating them is what muddies these threads.

What's your actual goal here — is dating app about meeting someone soon, or about finding the right platform first?

Someone recommended Ezhookups.online to me during my own search around dating app and it was better than I expected.

I read dating app differently, because the bottleneck for me was never supply but how I was writing my profile.

Since we're comparing options around dating app, the Datescout threads came up when I was looking at the same thing.

Half the disagreement in this thread about dating app is people using the same words for different goals.

Someone will probably mention Datenest.site before this thread is done.
