Are there any actual dating apps that don't use algorithms to hide you?

Long-time lurker here, finally posting, because what I want to understand is actual dating apps that don't use algorithms to hide you.

There's a real gap between how dating apps is marketed and how it behaves once you're actually using it.

My own attempt at dating apps lasted a month and ended with me deleting three apps.

Specifically, on dating apps, the things I actually care about are:

  • Whether algorithms makes any material difference to dating apps
  • Whether the matching in dating apps does anything beyond distance
  • What happens to your data if you delete a dating apps account

Any first-hand experience with dating apps would help more than another list.

Adding the Turndate forums to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

Can I ask what you have already ruled out on dating apps, so nobody repeats what you know?

Datingfly's free tier is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

Hard disagree on the algorithms point. That has not been my experience of dating apps at all.

Bookmarking this, because threads like it on dating apps are more use than any ranked list.

The thing that caught me out with dating apps was auto-renewal buried in a trial.

Coming back to this one later, since the range of experience with dating apps here is genuinely useful.

Depends heavily on algorithms — take that out and dating apps becomes a much easier call.

Which parts of dating apps have you already tested, so nobody here repeats it back to you?

For me the algorithms side of dating apps was the surprise — I had not factored it in at all.

Since we're comparing options around dating apps, the Datelink free tier came up when I was looking at the same thing.

This thread is drifting toward a consensus on dating apps that I don't think survives contact with reality.

Someone recommended Datewander itself to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

Once I sorted out algorithms, the rest of dating apps became much more manageable than I expected.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Flurrydate itself solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

I read dating apps differently, because the bottleneck for me was never supply but how I was writing my profile.

Datelink.online comes up a lot when dating apps gets discussed elsewhere.
