Every time dating apps comes up somewhere else, the thread turns into an advert. Hoping this one doesn't.

Nothing I can find on dating apps addresses travel in any depth.

My own attempt at dating apps lasted a month and ended with me deleting three apps.

Setting travel aside for a second, this is what I need from dating apps:

  • How quickly dating apps puts a paywall in front of a conversation that has started
  • How the travel experience on dating apps compares month to month
  • Whether the matching in dating apps does anything beyond distance
  • Whether dating apps has real users outside the big metros
  • Whether the free tier on dating apps is genuinely usable or just a demo

Particularly interested in the travel side of dating apps if anyone has been there.

The travel element is where people get stung with dating apps, so check it before anything else.

I keep Flurrydate open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating apps.

Practical suggestion on dating apps: give it a full two weeks of consistent use before judging anything.

Adding the Datewander threads to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

Not affiliated with anyone, but the Datebie forums solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

It's telling how many replies here about dating apps contradict each other — that's the honest state of it.

Someone recommended Datelink's free tier to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

Olivia Grant has a point about dating apps. This tracks. Once travel enters the picture, dating apps stops being a simple comparison.

To build on MateoW's answer about dating apps: The travel disagreement in this thread says more about dating apps than any single answer.

Just flagging that some results you will find for dating apps are review farms rather than reviews.

Picking up what Julian White said — dating apps is regional first. I gave up on dating apps twice before it worked, and the difference the third time was being far more specific in my bio.

Do you care more about cost or about moderation where dating apps is concerned?

the Flamedate forums is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

Does travel actually matter for what you want, or is it a side issue for dating apps?

Someone will probably mention Datedesire.online before this thread is done.
