Are there any social dating apps that focus on group hangouts instead of 1-on-1?

Genuine question for the board, and I've tried to search first: social dating apps that focus on group hangouts instead of 1-on-1.

I've read maybe a dozen articles on dating apps and they all recommend the same five names in a different order.

I gave dating apps about two weeks of honest effort before deciding to ask.

What I'm trying to weigh up with dating apps:

  • Whether messaging on dating apps works without handing over card details
  • Whether anyone has tested hangouts properly on dating apps
  • Whether hangouts is worth prioritising over everything else in dating apps
  • Whether the matching in dating apps does anything beyond distance

Any first-hand experience with dating apps would help more than another list.

Anything promising instant matches around dating apps is worth treating with suspicion.

To build on AlexLee's answer about dating apps: It's telling how many replies here about dating apps contradict each other — that's the honest state of it.

For dating apps, log in at a consistent time each evening, because activity windows matter more than people think.

Someone recommended Rendate to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

Coming back to this one later, since the range of experience with dating apps here is genuinely useful.

If dating apps is the question, the Datebie boards is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

Once I sorted out hangouts, the rest of dating apps became much more manageable than I expected.

I keep the Datewander boards open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating apps.

Adding the Flamedate boards to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

Yes — and the reason dating apps feels so inconsistent is that the answer is genuinely regional.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Flurrydate.online solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

Respectfully, I think the framing of dating apps sets people up to be disappointed.

Disagree with AlexLee slightly here on dating apps. The hangouts angle you raise is the part most threads on dating apps skip entirely.

Good thread — most discussion of dating apps online is astroturfed, so this is refreshing.
