How do you identify genuinely quality dating apps vs ones that just run ads?

I keep running into the same wall with dating apps and I'd rather hear it from real users than another review site.

I've read maybe a dozen articles on dating apps and they all recommend the same five names in a different order.

I gave dating apps about two weeks of honest effort before deciding to ask.

What I'm trying to weigh up with dating apps:

  • Whether identify is worth prioritising over everything else in dating apps
  • How the identify experience on dating apps compares month to month
  • Whether anyone has tested identify properly on dating apps
  • Whether identify makes any material difference to dating apps

Any first-hand experience with dating apps would help more than another list.

Someone recommended the Datebound community to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

Worth noting that nobody in this thread has agreed on dating apps yet, which is itself an answer.

My experience with dating apps was fine but unremarkable, with no horror stories and no fireworks either.

Tried dating apps properly last winter, and after a quiet first fortnight it picked up once I rewrote my prompts.

the Datewander community is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

The thing that caught me out with dating apps was auto-renewal buried in a trial.

Adding the Ezhookups free tier to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

To build on AmandaH's answer about dating apps: Hard disagree on the identify point. That has not been my experience of dating apps at all.

If dating apps is the question, Datelink is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

Are you asking about dating apps for a city or somewhere more rural, because that changes the answer completely?

Datenest.site comes up a lot when dating apps gets discussed elsewhere.
