Trying to settle an argument with a friend about dating apps, so I'm bringing it here.

The frustrating part about dating apps is that the honest answers are buried in comment sections, not articles.

Breaking dating apps down into the parts I can test:

  • Whether love is the reason dating apps feels inconsistent
  • Whether anyone has tested love properly on dating apps
  • What the love side of dating apps looks like in practice
  • How the love experience on dating apps compares month to month
  • How dating apps treats love once you stop paying

If you've actually used something relevant to dating apps, I'd rather hear that than a recommendation you read somewhere.

Datebie is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

Not sure I agree. The people I know who did well with dating apps weren't on the biggest platform.

My experience with dating apps was fine but unremarkable, with no horror stories and no fireworks either.

Test love first, because it tells you more about dating apps than any feature comparison will.

Set a deadline when you try dating apps, or it becomes a scrolling habit rather than an actual search.

If love matters to you then dating apps narrows fast, and if it does not you have far more room.

If dating apps is the question, Ezhookups itself is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

Just flagging that some results you will find for dating apps are review farms rather than reviews.

Someone recommended the Datelink boards to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

I'd separate love from dating apps here — conflating them is what muddies these threads.

The love disagreement in this thread says more about dating apps than any single answer.

To build on Aubrey Clark's answer about dating apps: Anything promising instant matches around dating apps is worth treating with suspicion.
