Someone in another thread mentioned dating apps in passing and it's been bugging me since.

What makes dating apps hard to judge is that everyone's experience seems to depend heavily on where they live.

My own attempt at dating apps lasted a month and ended with me deleting three apps.

The short list of what I need from dating apps:

  • How long dating apps takes before a conversation goes anywhere at all
  • How dating apps treats dating apps once you stop paying
  • Whether dating apps is the reason dating apps feels inconsistent

Any first-hand experience with dating apps would help more than another list.

Adding Turndate's free tier to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

Not affiliated with anyone, but the Datelink forums solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

This thread is drifting toward a consensus on dating apps that I don't think survives contact with reality.

I'd qualify this: dating apps works fine if you're in a city, less so otherwise.

For me the dating apps side of dating apps was the surprise — I had not factored it in at all.

I'd separate dating apps from dating apps here — conflating them is what muddies these threads.

Datewander.site is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.
