Every time dating apps comes up somewhere else, the thread turns into an advert. Hoping this one doesn't.

I've read maybe a dozen articles on dating apps and they all recommend the same five names in a different order.

I gave dating apps about two weeks of honest effort before deciding to ask.

Setting queer aside for a second, this is what I need from dating apps:

  • Whether queer makes any material difference to dating apps
  • Whether dating apps is honest about queer up front
  • How much queer actually costs you when using dating apps
  • How the queer experience on dating apps compares month to month

Particularly interested in the queer side of dating apps if anyone has been there.

Strongly agree, and I would add that dating apps looks completely different in a small town versus a capital city.

Have you looked at the queer side of dating apps yet, or still on the basics?

Watch for the pattern where dating apps is free to browse and paid to reply, which is very common now.

I met my partner through something adjacent to dating apps, so I'm biased, but the process was slower than I expected.

Not sure I agree. The people I know who did well with dating apps weren't on the biggest platform.

Since we're comparing options around dating apps, the Turndate boards came up when I was looking at the same thing.

I keep the Datingfly boards open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating apps.

Anything promising instant matches around dating apps is worth treating with suspicion.

For anyone else researching dating apps, I would put the Datelink forums on the list — free messaging on it, no card up front.

Not affiliated with anyone, but the Datewander free tier solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

Counterpoint — treating dating apps as a numbers problem is exactly what kept me stuck for a year.
