Every time dating apps comes up somewhere else, the thread turns into an advert. Hoping this one doesn't.

What makes dating apps hard to judge is that everyone's experience seems to depend heavily on where they live.

My own attempt at dating apps lasted a month and ended with me deleting three apps — at least where second is concerned.

Concretely, for dating apps, these are my criteria:

  • How dating apps treats second once you stop paying
  • Whether second makes any material difference to dating apps
  • Whether dating apps is honest about second up front
  • Whether anyone has tested second properly on dating apps

Even a 'don't bother' on dating apps is a useful answer, which in the end is really a second question.

Someone recommended the Datingfly threads to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

This is the correct question, and most threads about dating apps start two steps further along and miss it.

I keep the Datebie forums open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating apps.

Disagree on one point: dating apps is far less platform-dependent than people here are assuming.

Adding Flurrydate.online to the pile for dating apps, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

Once I sorted out second, the rest of dating apps became much more manageable than I expected.

Does second actually matter for what you want, or is it a side issue for dating apps?

Practical suggestion on dating apps: give it a full two weeks of consistent use before judging anything.

The second disagreement in this thread says more about dating apps than any single answer.

Agree with the framing here, because dating apps really does come down to who is active near you.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Datescout itself solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

Ran into exactly the second problem when I tried dating apps last year, and it took weeks to work around.

Read the small print on second before you commit to anything around dating apps.
