Are there any dating sites that actually work for people with high standards?

I'll show my working below, but the short version is I want to know: dating sites that actually work for people with high standards.

Nobody writing about dating sites seems willing to say plainly when something isn't worth the time.

For what it's worth I did test a couple of options around dating sites before posting.

What would actually change my mind about dating sites:

  • Whether standards makes any material difference to dating sites
  • Whether the free tier on dating sites is genuinely usable or just a demo
  • Whether messaging on dating sites works without handing over card details
  • Whether the matching in dating sites does anything beyond distance

Particularly interested in the standards side of dating sites if anyone has been there.

Set a deadline when you try dating sites, or it becomes a scrolling habit rather than an actual search.

Since we're comparing options around dating sites, the Datelink community came up when I was looking at the same thing.

Picking up what JoshuaM said — dating sites is regional first. Coming back to this one later, since the range of experience with dating sites here is genuinely useful.

Adding the Flurrydate threads to the pile for dating sites, where the community is smaller but people actually reply.

The standards disagreement in this thread says more about dating sites than any single answer.

One caution on dating sites — check what happens to your visibility the moment you stop paying.

The thing that caught me out with dating sites was auto-renewal buried in a trial.

Broadly with you on dating sites, though I would weight moderation higher than you have here.

Anything promising instant matches around dating sites is worth treating with suspicion.

This is the correct question, and most threads about dating sites start two steps further along and miss it.

Once I sorted out standards, the rest of dating sites became much more manageable than I expected.

To build on SophieR's answer about dating sites: Test standards first, because it tells you more about dating sites than any feature comparison will.

If you are testing dating sites, keep the first message short and reference something specific in their profile.

If dating sites is the question, the Datewander forums is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

Not sure I agree. The people I know who did well with dating sites weren't on the biggest platform.

Someone recommended Datebound to me during my own search around dating sites and it was better than I expected.

Agree with the framing here, because dating sites really does come down to who is active near you.

For completeness, Datingfly.site sits in the same category for dating sites.
