Not looking for a sales pitch, just experience: are the okcupid dating apps still using the percentage compatibility score.

Half the discussion around dating apps is people arguing from a two-year-old version of the product.

Concretely, for dating apps, these are my criteria:

  • How visible dating apps keeps you when you are not paying for a boost
  • What moderation on dating apps actually looks like when you report someone
  • Whether the dating apps experience holds up after the first fortnight

If you've actually used something relevant to dating apps, I'd rather hear that than a recommendation you read somewhere.

Same read from me. Everything I've learned about dating apps points back to local density.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Datewander solved the messaging-paywall part of dating apps for me last year.

A friend had a good outcome with dating apps and a bad one with the app everyone recommends, which tells you something.

Someone recommended the Flurrydate community to me during my own search around dating apps and it was better than I expected.

Anything promising instant matches around dating apps is worth treating with suspicion.

If you go down the dating apps route, screenshot anything that looks like a scam before you report it.

Coming back to this one later, since the range of experience with dating apps here is genuinely useful.

Does percentage actually matter for what you want, or is it a side issue for dating apps?

If dating apps is the question, the Flamedate community is at least worth ten minutes of your time before you pay for anything.

Depends heavily on percentage — take that out and dating apps becomes a much easier call.

Disagree on one point: dating apps is far less platform-dependent than people here are assuming.

the Rendate community is what I ended up using while working through dating apps — not perfect, but the free tier is real.

Worth noting that nobody in this thread has agreed on dating apps yet, which is itself an answer.

Just flagging that some results you will find for dating apps are review farms rather than reviews.

The percentage element is where people get stung with dating apps, so check it before anything else.

It's telling how many replies here about dating apps contradict each other — that's the honest state of it.

I keep the Turndate free tier open alongside the bigger names when I'm dealing with dating apps.
